Affiliate Disclosure
PortugalGolfe.pt is a reader-supported publication. This page discloses all current affiliate relationships and explains how affiliate revenue works on the site — both for legal compliance and as a matter of transparency to our readers.
Affiliate Programmes We Participate In
Amazon Associates
PortugalGolfe.pt is a participant in the Amazon Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.
Specific Amazon programmes we participate in:
- Amazon Spain (amazon.es) — our current primary Amazon affiliate. Tag:
magicskills0d-21 - Amazon UK (amazon.co.uk) — planned for visitor-focused English content. When live, this tag will be disclosed here.
When you click an Amazon link on this site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. This commission costs you nothing additional — the price you pay is identical whether or not you used our link.
Where possible, links open in a new tab so you don’t lose your place on our site.
ThirstyAffiliates
We use the ThirstyAffiliates plugin to manage affiliate links. All our affiliate links are tagged with rel="sponsored" in accordance with Google’s webmaster guidelines and FTC disclosure requirements.
The technical implementation rewrites all affiliate URLs on the site to include the proper sponsored relationship and noopener/noreferrer attributes for security.
Other Programmes
We may participate in additional affiliate programmes from time to time. Any active programme will be disclosed on this page. Currently, our only active programmes are Amazon Associates (Spain) and the Amazon Associates programme structure for UK (when live).
We don’t participate in:
- Network advertising programmes (no Google AdSense, no display networks)
- Pop-up affiliate widgets
- Paid content placements that aren’t clearly marked as advertising
- Bait-and-switch affiliate schemes
Editorial Independence
Our affiliate relationships have no influence on editorial decisions. Specifically:
- Course rankings are based on publicly verifiable criteria (international rankings, architect heritage, competitive history). Resorts cannot buy placement in our rankings.
- Product recommendations reflect what we’d genuinely recommend. We don’t promote products we wouldn’t use ourselves.
- Course reviews reflect personal experience. Negative observations are published alongside positive ones.
- We don’t remove or soften critical content in response to advertiser pressure.
If a recommendation seems out of place, that suggests something is wrong with the recommendation — not that we’ve been paid to make it.
How Reader-Supported Revenue Works
When you click an affiliate link and buy something:
- You pay the same price as you would have anyway
- The retailer pays us a small percentage commission (typically 1-5% of the item price)
- That commission helps us cover the cost of running the site (hosting, software, course visits, photography, editorial time)
- It doesn’t change our editorial decisions
This is how independent golf publications generally fund themselves. The alternatives — paid placements, sponsored “reviews”, paywall — we don’t think serve readers as well.
